About Godda:

The geographical spread of the entire Godda District and parts of the Deoghar and Dumka districts is contained in this constituency. Famous for its rich deposits of coal, the Rajmahal Coalfields under the Eastern Coalfields Limited, is known for being the largest open-pit coal mine in Asia. That said, these three districts have been identified as economically dependent by the Government of India.

Present Political Scenario:

BJP has once again re-nominated sitting MP Nishikant Dubey and Congress has reposed faith in Furkann Ansari. Dubey stands a decent chance of repeating his 2009 victory over Ansari who is facing big rebellion from within Congress in the form of Krishnanand Jha.

This is the only seat in Santhal Paraganas where Congress still has some relevance.
